“Fair New Jersey”

This is a song I’ve been working on. New Jersey has never had a state song and this is my proposal to change that. It is currently set to the tune of Auld Lang Syne.

I’m currently open to any New Jersey resident writing the music for it. E-mail me for details.

Fair New Jersey
Lyrics by Lida Haut
All the pride we will always have
Never to fade away
That glory of the sky we see
Showing thine golden light
The rising sunbeams now appear
Upon thy shining shore
And on the rolling sand and air
In thee, fair New Jersey

The ancient oaks, the river’s gleam, the red maples in fall
Our mountains and their grandeur fair, touching the great pale blue
And the violets, they pine and sway forevermore
To see their nestled natural sights
On Mount Tammany high

On Trenton’s gallant domain, where old Washington fought
For our values we hold dear: liberty, prosperity
The buff and blue upon our flag
Proclaim our noble stand
This is the Garden State, my dear
Where trees in springtime dance

From our cities to the shore
Calm forests in between
The magic of our domain is clear
Known all across the land
Where the young goldfinch flies
And can live in peace
Forever may our state endure
Oh, New Jersey, thee
